Late last year we received a Soft-baked Pretzels and Liège
Belgian Waffles gift box from Eastern Standard Provisions. This box contained 4
pretzels
and 4 waffles along with salt, truffle salt, strawberry sugar, a jar of Maui
onion mustard and a jar of fudge sauce. We
tried the Pretzels first and saved the waffles for later.
First, we brushed some of the Pretzels with
olive oil and some with butter. Then we
made a variety of flavors and put them in the oven. Both the olive oil and
butter ones were good, and I really didn’t have a preference. The plain salt ones were good, so were the
truffle ones but I don’t think the truffle helped all that much. I
wasn’t sure about the strawberry sugar, but I ended up liking it quite a bit especially
with the chocolate sauce. I really enjoyed the pretzels with the mustard. The mustard was excellent, It was basically a
honey mustard with chunks of onion. Pretzels
may not be my favorite thing, but these were pretty good and had a good variety
of flavors.
Later we tried the waffles.
We baked them in the oven according to directions. The waffles were not all that big in size but
were filling. They were tasty but very very
sweet, kind of too sweet in my opinion.
We tried them with the chocolate sauce even though it didn’t need any
more sugar it, but it was pretty good. If
you like this type of super sweet waffle I would definitely recommend them.
