Lost Texan BBQ - Pleasant View, UT

July 24, 2019

This place was not so busy but was small and crowded.  When we got up to the counter we each grabbed a tray. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich with potato salad. Mom had a pulled pork sandwich with pork they scooped from bottom of pan with coleslaw and dad also had a pulled pork from a new pan with cheddar ranch smashed potatoes.  We took our trays and found a table. These sandwiches were big and for a fairly cheap price.

My brisket was okay but was drenched in sauce which didn’t help it any. The potato salad was just average.

Mom and dad liked their sandwiches Mom’s pulled pork from the bottom was wet and dads from the new pan he thought was a little dry. Mom’s coleslaw was okay and dad’s potatoes were pretty good. There were also multiple types of sauce on the table. I’m not sure if the Lost Texan BBQ is lost by being in Utah or because of having sauce on their bbq but either way it wasn’t all that great and not my favorite.

Tushar Brazilian Express - West Jordan, Utah

July 25, 2019

This was an order at the counter type place so we went up to the counter. I ordered the chicken skewer which came with three sides. I picked mashed potatoes and gravy, black beans and fried bananas.  Mom had the chicken skewer also but with a salad, veggies and mashed potatoes and gravy.  Dad had the steak skewer with fries, rice and a salad.

I thought that the chicken skewer was excellent. This was basically grilled chicken but tasted really good.  The mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty good and the black beans were basically like a soup and also very good. The fried bananas which I wasn’t quite sure what was coming but they basically tasted like a warm banana pie with a little bit of breading on the outside.

Dad thought the steak was really good like prime rib and thought the fries and rice were good but didn’t like the salad.  Mom really liked all of her meal and sides except for the black olives in the salad.

This place had very good prices, great food and gave you a lot of food. The staff was friendly and all of us thought this place was excellent and would definitely go back if we could.

Pig and a Jelly jar – Ogden Utah

July 23 and July 26 2019

Our first stop here was for breakfast which was probably more at lunch time.  When we arrived it wasn’t very crowded so we were seated pretty quickly.  Eventually we were ready to order.  Mom and I both ordered the green eggs and ham and dad had the pig breakfast.

The green eggs and ham was basically eggs benedict but had a biscuit instead of an English muffin and also had ham, tomato, poached eggs and was topped with green chili hollandaise sauce.

I thought the sauce was really good but was a bit salty.  The whole thing went together well including the tomato. The fried potatoes that came with this I didn’t care for because of the rosemary on them.

With Dad’s pig breakfast he picked scrambled eggs and sausage it also came with potatoes and toast. Dad really liked his breakfast and especially liked the sausage.  Our breakfasts were about $10.00 so it was a decent value for a good breakfast and our waiter was nice and made sure we had everything we needed.

A couple days later we decided to go back for dinner.

This time mom still wanted breakfast and had biscuits and gravy and dad had the pig breakfast again.

I wasn’t really hungry so I just got some fried green tomatoes.  It was cornmeal breaded fried green tomatoes which I thought were really good and were even better dipped in the sriracha aioli.
