For my birthday we decided to meet the rest of family in
Denver and I picked the Blue Bonnet Café for lunch. When we arrived we were pointed to the table
for our group and chips and salsa was out and ready. This was very good salsa
and pretty much like the salsa at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in
Phoenix (Tortas Chano) along with very good chips. I pretty much ate a whole bowl
by myself. When it was time to order I
ordered the build your own combo with a chili relleno and cheese enchilada and
a ground beef Burrito.
Everyone else
ordered various other things like chili rellenos, chimichangas which they don't
fry and Carnitas among other things. Then we had some more time to talk and eat
more chips and salsa.
But soon enough the food arrived and I thought the enchilada
and chili relleno both were very good, but I kind a wish I would've gotten some
kind of meat in the enchilada. These were both good but my favorite part was
the Burrito. The ground beef is pretty good inside but chicken or shredded beef
would've made it even better. This burrito was smothered with green chili that
had pieces of delicious pork that just fell apart. Along with these items was
good rice and beans. I very much enjoyed
my meal and I think everyone did as well else did as well.
After we were finished with our entrées our
waitress brought a plate of two sopapillas with cinnamon, caramel sauce and
honey for me and a plate for everyone else to share. I'm not a huge dessert fan
but I've always loved sopapillas and these were excellent and didn't
disappoint. We all had a very enjoyable lunch and we can't wait to return
especially my brother-in-law who later suggested we meet here again in the
future so we will definitely be back.
