Four Friends Kitchen - Denver Colorado

December 20, 2017

We arrived just after noon or maybe closer to 1 o'clock after a doctor's appointment.   The place was rather full and we had to wait awhile.  After a while the host pointed out the table that they were waiting for, but the people weren't moving very quickly. Eventually though a different table opened up. After we were seated our waiter quickly arrived and took our drink orders which we all three ordered cokes. When he brought these back we ordered some beignets ($6) and our meals.  Dad ordered a Southwest breakfast burrito ($ 9.5), Mom ordered the brisket hash ($11) and I ordered the Smokey Mountain BLT ($10) (fried green tomato BLT).

Soon after this the beignets arrived on a rectangle plate with crème anglaise and wild berry preserves and they were covered in powdered sugar. These were like a doughnut but smaller like donut hole size.  They were a bit messy and hard to eat, but I thought they were very good.  My first time trying beignets I think was a success. Awhile after that our food came out.

Mom really really enjoyed her brisket hash. It was the best hash she thinks she’s had and was impressed with the brisket and that it was better meat then most hashes come with.

Dad thought his burrito was pretty good.

My BLT was pretty good, everything inside was very good separately but I thought it was almost too many things in one sandwich.  The fried green tomato was crispy still even after I was under everything and was a very good fried green tomato at that.  The bacon was rather good bacon, but not great like in my recent bacon post, but still pretty tasty.  The pimento cheese was good pimento cheese but I think the sandwich would've been better without it and the serrano aioli was not terribly hot but noticeable and I thought a nice addition to the sandwich.  This was all in a sandwich with a nice toasted bread. It was very hard to eat because it completely fell apart pretty quickly. The fries along with this I thought we're just alright.  After eating maybe three fourths of the sandwich I was stuffed, so I picked out the good parts the bacon and the tomato of my last section of sandwich and I was very happy but stuffed.  I thought Four Friends Kitchen was a very good restaurant and my mom really liked it even more than I did.   I would be happy to return and maybe try something else like maybe the brisket hash that my mom thought was so good.
