Fresh Chile Sauce 3-Pack from The Fresh Chile Co

For Christmas eve we had a brunch with the rest of the family.  Since this included a chile relleno casserole and a bacon egg and potato casserole I thought red and green chile would be perfect with it.

I ordered the Fresh Chile Sauce 3-Pack from The Fresh Chile Co, which included jars of Fresh Red Chile, Fresh Green Chile, and Sun-Dried Chile on sale for $24.95.  I made sure to get the mild versions of each because they can get carried away with their heat in New Mexico.  I really liked both the red and the green, they were both tasty and both had a good amount of heat to them, but I’m glad I went with the mild.  The sun dried chile was alright as well but was sweeter and just not my favorite.  I enjoyed these sauces with both casseroles as well as chips and just eggs.  I thought the green went best with eggs, red with potatoes and both were good with chips.  This was all I had with the sauces but I’m sure they would be great on so many other things.

Having red chile and green chile was a perfect addition to our Christmas eve brunch   I can’t wait to order some more and try them in many more ways.

Eastern Standard Provisions Soft-baked Pretzels and Liège Belgian Waffles gift box

Late last year we received a Soft-baked Pretzels and Liège Belgian Waffles gift box from Eastern Standard Provisions.  This box contained 4 pretzels and 4 waffles along with salt, truffle salt, strawberry sugar, a jar of Maui onion mustard and a jar of fudge sauce.  We tried the Pretzels first and saved the waffles for later.

First, we brushed some of the Pretzels with olive oil and some with butter.  Then we made a variety of flavors and put them in the oven. Both the olive oil and butter ones were good, and I really didn’t have a preference.  The plain salt ones were good, so were the truffle ones but I don’t think the truffle helped all that much.   I wasn’t sure about the strawberry sugar, but I ended up liking it quite a bit especially with the chocolate sauce. I really enjoyed the pretzels with the mustard.  The mustard was excellent, It was basically a honey mustard with chunks of onion.  Pretzels may not be my favorite thing, but these were pretty good and had a good variety of flavors.

Later we tried the waffles.  We baked them in the oven according to directions.  The waffles were not all that big in size but were filling.  They were tasty but very very sweet, kind of too sweet in my opinion.

We tried them with the chocolate sauce even though it didn’t need any more sugar it, but it was pretty good.  If you like this type of super sweet waffle I would definitely recommend them.
