Red Iguana Salt Lake City Utah

June 17, 2014

Red Iguana in Salt Lake City has been featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives and with all the good reviews online we had to stop in. When we arrived it was packed and we were told would be about 45 minute wait. So we waited out front with everyone else because there is no room inside. All day had been rainy but it had stopped for bit while we were waiting, but as we waited it started dumping again. So mom and I went to wait in the car and dad got an umbrella from the restaurant and continued to wait in front. Finally we had a table. We had heard about mole but have never really had any so I wanted to try some out.
Right away we got our drink orders taken all three Cokes again and they brought a basket of chips and salsa. I thought the salsa was a little different but I thought was very tasty and had a decent amount heat the only problem was a lot of the chips were small broken pieces.

We also asked about the Mole sampler which I had seen so many pictures of online. The waitress went and quickly put this together and explained it all to us.
So I tested all the Moles I kind of liked the pumpkin one little bit and the Verde one but wasn't so sure about most of them. I wasn't sure if I want pumpkin mole enchilada or anything like that.

So I decided to get the enchiladas verdes as did mom. Dad had the chimichanga and decided to get some of the mole verde on the side. After I ordered I thought I'd make a quick stop the bathroom but this place was not very accessible and it took longer to get to the bathroom I thought. By the time I returned the food was already there. The mole verde on my enchilada was all right and like a green Chile sauce type thing and was thick and was all right, but I really just don't think I am a big fan of moles and this was pretty much what mom and dad thought as well. Dad did like his chimichanga and thought the sauce that normally came on top, but was served on the side was really good.
I thought this was just okay and I don't think I'm that big of a mole a fan but if you are this might be a great place for you.

Bohemian brewery Salt Lake City Utah

June 17, 2014

Our first day in Salt Lake City was very rainy and it pretty much rained all day. I had Bohemian brewery on my list, but more for some of the dinner entrées like the schnitzel and chicken paprikash which I wanted to try, but it was lunch time and seemed like a good day for soup or something more like that and I saw it on their menu online. Once we made it through the rain we were ready to eat.  we were seated and informed of the special which was some sort of a burger. Also we ordered our drinks we all three had Cokes. As soon as our waitress returned with the drinks we were ready to order I decided to get a bowl of French onion soup along with some garlic fries. Mom also had a bowl of French onion soup and also the three Pierogi appetizer. Dad got a Pastrami Philly cheese steak that had peppers, onions, Swiss and chipotle aioli this came with garlic fries.

Somewhere along the line our waitress also brought a basket of bread with a butter like spread.   I'm not sure what it was but I think green olives and pimentos were in there, this I didn't care for but my parents seemed to like. After a bit of wait the waitress brought out the food and after she figured out where to put everything to fit best we were ready to eat.

The French onion soup was good but I definitely have had better, but it was still the perfect thing for a cool rainy day.

I liked the garlic fries quite a bit they were salty garlicky and very tasty and they came with house aioli which seemed like it was just the same as the chipotle aioli from dad’s sandwich. There were plenty of fries and even with help I couldn’t finish them.

I tried one of the bacon and onion Pierogi these were very good. They were just a good basic potato Pierogi that was pan-fried with bacon and onions on top. I haven't exactly had many Pierogis but these were the best yet. Dad also seemed to like his sandwich he thought it was pretty good cheese steak and he also very much enjoyed the garlic fries as well. This was a very good place and I liked how many different types of choices you had from Pierogis, sausages and schnitzel's to sandwiches and garlic fries. I hope to sometime return and try maybe a schnitzel or maybe a different entrée.

Robert’s restaurant Salt Lake City Utah

June 16, 2014

After a long day of driving and an issue at our hotel we didn't want to go too far for dinner and Robert’s restaurant happened to be pretty close to the hotel. When we got there it wasn’t real busy and most of the tables just had one person there probably because this was close to the airport and close to multiple hotels. I didn't take long to look at the menu since I figure just a sandwich would be good. Dad ordered the Reuben with fries, mom had the Philly sandwich with a cup of soup which I can't remember which one it was. And I had the French dip and did a side salad since I didn't like the soup choices too much. Shortly after my salad and mom’s soup arrived. Mom thought the soup was just average and

my salad was pretty basic with a few too many black olives for my liking.   After this we waited and waited a little more, then the waitress came back with ketchup and fry sauce and whatnot and said the food wouldn’t be too much longer. Then we waited and waited a little more than you would think you would need to for sandwiches but eventually they came. All the food was there except for my au jus but our waitress noticed this right away and went to get it. None of us were too excited about our sandwiches

I thought the bread was decent at soaking up the au jus. But I thought the meat was kind of dry.

Mom's wasn't exactly what I would call a Philly and

Dad wasn't too excited about his.  Roberts’s restaurant was a bit disappointing, but it was convenient since it is close to the airport and close to multiple hotels.

Defalcos Deli Scottsdale Arizona

March 11, 2014

This place was featured on Diners drive-ins and dives. This day I kind of wanted something a little lighter for lunch so I thought a sandwich from a deli would be the perfect thing. When we arrived the place was kind of busy.   It was very crowded to get around. Once we got in line on the way to the front we got to look at all the meats and cheeses and side dishes along the way. Then when we got fairly close you could see the menu.   I still had time to figure out what I want before I ordered. Once we got to the front mom ordered a half Italian combo on a baguette, I got a half Italian combo on the focaccia bread and dad got a half a cheesesteak. To go along with these we all three had regular sized drinks. So after we ordered and had our drink cups which we filled, we were lucky to be able to find a table between all the Italian goods on the shelves and all the other people that were waiting for there to go order or shopping.

Our table was next to the San Marzano tomatoes. From here we had to wait for what seemed like forever for our sandwiches. But eventually they were brought out

mine was filled with meat along with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, Italian dressing, mustard, and mayonnaise. I had the half version but it was rather large for a half. All the meat in my sandwich was pretty good except for the mortadella which I found out was like baloney which I didn't care for.

Dad really liked his cheesesteak thought it was one of the better ones he's had.

Mom's was just like mine but with a different kind of bread which she seemed to like. This was at another successful trip for lunch especially for a slightly lighter lunch.
