Anaya’s Mexican restaurant – Glendale Arizona

March 9, 2017

On this night where a tad early for dinner, so the place was completely empty so we were seated immediately.

Chips and salsa arrived just after that, this was pretty tasty but the salsa was a bit hot after a while and sure got my nose running. After enjoying this for a while our waitress was ready to take our order;

dad ordered some sort of burrito, I did the build your own combo and chose a beef enchilada with ground beef and a chile relleno. Mom also build your own combo with a chicken enchilada anise chile relleno. These combos came with rice and beans. These were not really exciting but decent and the rice had mixed veggies carrots corn peas and a couple green beans mixed in with the rice which I thought was a little strange, but was all right I guess. The beef enchilada was pretty much a basic beef enchilada it was pretty good and I don’t usually like soft chile relleno but I figured I’d give this one a try and it was really pretty good although if I had a choice I probably still take a crispy chile relleno.

Dad thought his burrito was alright.
I’m not sure if they just had smaller portions or if I was really hungry but I completely cleaned my plate and had just enough room for some more chips and salsa. I would probably return to Anaya’s Mexican restaurant, it was pretty good Mexican food and a decent price.

Niccoli's Italian Grocery-Deli – Phoenix Arizona

March 9, 2017

When we arrived for maybe bit late of a lunch there were no other customers inside. The owner lady was kind of in our way telling another employee were to put something and another lady said “mom you’re in their way”. Eventually we made it inside to the quite crowded area by the counter and meat counter and by all the other Italian items to buy. Normally you would order at the counter, but the owner just gave us a menu and told us we could just go sit in the dining area and she’d come take our order. So that’s what we did. All 3 of us decided we wanted a half Italian sub, so she wrote down one and a half Italian sandwiches because she wanted it to be cheaper for us ($9 for the whole $6 for the half). And she also told us all the kinds of drinks they had in cans, so we all three ordered a can of Coke to go with our sandwiches. Fairly soon after this another lady brought out our sandwiches on paper plates along with some napkins. And we were ready to eat.

This sub I thought was very good and had all your basic Italian meats Genoa salami, Capicolla, Mortadella, Ham with provolone and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, Pepperoncini and dressing and the bread was pretty good to go with it all, so pretty much a basic Italian sandwich that tasted quite good. The owner here was very nice and she made sure to come thank us again and see how everything was. As well as when we went to pay at the counter before we left. I really enjoyed this family-run Italian deli. The sandwich was really good and the service was good and all the staff was very friendly and helpful and I would sure be happy to return for another very good sandwich.
