The good egg - Phoenix, AZ

March 7, 2012

We arrived for a late breakfast it wasn’t very full in the place. The lady in front didn't know they had a table that would work for us. This wasn't because they were too crowded or anything, but because of me being in a wheelchair it sometimes makes it difficult to get to certain tables. But they did find one that would work. The waitress came pretty quickly. I had the basic breakfast with bacon; I ordered my eggs over easy.  This also came with potatoes and your choice of bread which I chose an English muffin. My parents both had the biscuits and gravy.  The food came fairly quickly.

I thought the bacon was pretty good but other than that I didn't think the breakfast was all that good.  I didn't really like the potatoes too much they tasted ok, but they were a little on the hard side. Also my eggs which I ordered over easy were not runny at all, and were maybe over hard. The English muffin was just an English muffin.

My parents both really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy which they do just about everywhere.  The good egg I thought was just ok there was nothing really too great or too bad.

Hohokam Field Mesa Arizona

March 6, 2012

I decided to get a chi-town dog since we're at the Cubs Stadium.

The dog had most of the normal Chicago dog and had all the basic things to Chicago dog tomatoes neon relish, onions, a poppyseed bun sport peppers and a pickle spear, the mustard was a spicy brown instead of the regular. I thought it was basic ballpark food and the price you expect at a ballpark.($11.25 for dog and drink) I also didn't really like the sport peppers they seemed like they were just skin with seeds and they were hot and I needed my soda quick, Even though soda is supposed to make it worse, it did seem to help.

Dillons GLENDALE ARIZONA

MARCH 6, 2012

We had spent our first day in Phoenix watching the Chicago Cubs kill the Rockies in spring training game which was disappointing. We thought that bbq might be good and I had read about Dillons barbecue previously online and saw pictures of their onion rings and was sold on the place.

Since it was an afternoon game we ended up getting there for an early dinner. When we walked in we were seated right away. Very quickly are waitress showed up to take our drink orders and appetizer order. My parents both got cokes and I had lemonade, which the waitress asked if pink lemonade was okay which it was. We also had to get the onion rings which looked amazingly good on the pictures. We were just going to order the regular onion rings 6.95 but when we order them the waitress asked if we wanted the special half orders for a dollar. We decided to get two of them.

When she came back with the onion rings I thought wow these look great they were in a little basket with ranch dressing. My parents shared one of the half orders and I ate the other and they were amazingly good and were if not the best onion rings I had ever had they were toward the top of the list. The outside would break and pieces kept falling off, but the onion didn’t pull out with it.  Our waitress came back and took our onion ring plates which wasn't very long after, since we ate them so fast.  She also took your dinner order

I decided to get the pulled pork sandwich which came with your choice of barbecue sauce and a side dish I had Cajun sauce which had a little spice to it if you ate it straight, but when it was in the sandwich you couldn’t tell there was much heat but it was good. I also think it would've been better if there was more sauce on the sandwich. I had the mashed potatoes and gravy with it which were decent but not the best. The pork in my sandwich I thought was pretty average for barbecue. The bottom of the bun was really soggy which made it kind of hard to pick up so ate it with a fork.

My mom had the pulled pork but with the Carolina sauce and the coleslaw on top which she seemed to like but she didn't talk too much about it just it was good. My dad had the smoked turkey platter and he really enjoyed and after sampling it I understood why, it was really good. My parents both thought their sides were just ok.  Another good point about this place was they were selling shamrocks for MDA is very important to me.

This place I thought was mostly average or maybe a little better, but the onion rings were so good that I would boost their overall rating.
