Forno 301 – Phoenix Arizona

March 12, 2017

After we visited the Desert botanical gardens we were hungry for pizza. However not many of the places that have Neapolitan pizza are open on Sunday night except for Forno 301 so we decided to try it out. We were seated right away at the first table.  We took a little bit of time looking over the menu that was mostly in Italian and pretty soon an Italian guy, who I think was the owner, came over to our table.  First he said something in Italian which I didn't understand, but I eventually figured out he wanted to take my order. So I ordered the margarita pizza as did my mom and my dad ordered the 301 saying that it was the only thing on the menu he could pronounce. Which the owner thought was hilarious.  In a bit after we ordered our pizzas arrived.

I thought my margarita pizza was really quite good it had fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce and topped with fresh basil and the crust was good too with a few char spots here and there. So it had everything margarita pizza should have.  I think the best part was when you got a basil leaf in a bite with everything else.

My dad's 301 pizza had sausage, onion and mushroom.  He liked it pretty well and my mom enjoyed hers quite a bit as well. After we were done eating we sat waited for a while and they didn't say anything about paying or even bring the check, so eventually we went up to the counter to pay.  I had a very good margarita pizza at Forno 301 and I would definitely be happy to return and get another one.

Bobby Q – Mesa Arizona

March 13, 2017

When we arrived after another spring training baseball game the place was kind of busy but not completely packed. We were seated quickly then waited for a while and then had our drink orders taken and then it seemed like we had to wait for a long time and then eventually we had dinner orders taken; Mom ordered the pulled pork ($20), Dad ordered the sausage platter ($18), and I ordered the half slab of baby back ribs ($22), all of these entrees came with two sides.

Then we waited a while before our waitress brought out a basket of cornbread rounds. These were really good as they were when we visited their original location a few years ago.  After a bit longer of waiting, our food arrived.

Mom liked her pulled pork quite a bit and for her two sides she had the pecan slaw which she really enjoyed and veggies for her other side which were peppers and onions and a few other veggies.

Dad’s sausage platter he thought was good but not great.  He had the mac & cheese which he liked quite a bit and potato salad which he thought was alright.

My baby back ribs were excellent and some of the best ribs I think I've ever had and they fell right off the bone. For my sides I had mac & cheese which was creamy, gooey and delicious and very filling. I also had the pecan slaw which was good, but I didn't really end up eating too much of it not because I don't like it but because I had so much food and I ran out of space. The side portions were quite large so you definitely got your money’s worth and they were all really quite good. Once we were done eating our waitress dropped off the check and a bag of mini cinnamon donuts which we ate later and were really good as well and a perfect ending to a perfect meal.

Hohokam Stadium – Mesa Arizona

March 14, 2017

I ordered a pepperoni pizza from the Spinato’s pizza stand. This was a decent pizza and surprisingly good for being at a ballpark.  Mom had a sandwich from Ike’s which she really enjoyed.
